Clone
Cycle was formed by Adam and Kenneth Groce
in 1999. The original lineup consisted of
three members with Kenneth Groce on bass,
Adam Groce playing guitar and Derek Hensley
on drums and lead vocals. The band had moderate
success playing in Southeastern North Carolina
and recorded a four song demo entitled Demolition
in early 2000. Health problems in Derek’s
family contributed to the breakup of this
original lineup, as he needed to move back
home to the Washington D.C. area to attend
to his ailing mother.
Matt Devita became Clone Cycle’s new
drummer after auditioning several people
from the Wilmington area. With the new drummer
came a new name, Bent. Shortly thereafter
the band picked up Scottie Lynch to be the
new lead vocalist. Bent released their first
full length album, titled Ripped and Twisted,
in 2001. After about a year and a half of
playing in Southeast N.C, and Northern South
Carolina, Bent broke up because Matt wanted
to pursue other interests.
Adam, Ken, and Scottie met their new drummer
in early 2002. Dane Britt was asked to join
the band after extensive auditions of many
talented drummers in the area. The decision
was made to change the name of the band
back to Clone Cycle. Clone Cycle in its
current form has been playing together for
over two years and is fairly well known
in their area. The new Clone Cycle recorded
and released a full length CD entitled “Cycological”
in 2003 and have been performing as often
as possible in North and South Carolina.
They are the official band of the North
American Championship Wrestling league which
broadcast their music in 12 states on Charter
Communications
cable network every week and are currently
working on the soundtrack for a movie called
“The Secret Warrior” due out
in 2005. Other achievements include winning
the Hawaiian Tropic battle of the bands,
Southeast region, and have been written
up in several local and regional news and
entertainment publications.
